"Overlooking the Saône Valley, this cuvée embodies the very essence of its terroir's excellence—a Burgundian gem waiting to be discovered!"

The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Château des Quarts Monopoles 1er Cru, which is aged for 18 months, offers an alluring bouquet with notes of yellow plum, crushed stone, stinging nettle, and verbena. It is highly complex and has evolved significantly since I tasted it in the barrel. The palate is ripe on the attack, with a slight viscosity. It is elegant and balanced, but the power builds on the finish. It might warrant a higher score after some bottle aging. 2026–2045” (Vinous 2024)

About the wine:

Bettane & Desseauve Guide 2025 / Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2032

About the estate:

Dominique Lafon and his partner and collaborator Olivier Merlin—both from the eponymous estates, two of the region’s most prominent and indispensable names—have acquired this exceptional property. This prestigious architectural complex, nestled within a magnificent vineyard enclosure, is situated right in the heart of the vineyards; 2.5 hectares with full eastern exposure, on very poor, limestone-rich, and stony soil, which produce an exceptional Mâconnais cuvée, consistently impeccable in quality. It’s not to be missed.
