Pouilly-Fuissé
The Pouilly-Fuissé appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is a village appellation in the Mâconnais region, in the Saône-et-Loire department. The production area for the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation covers only the communes of Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson, and Chaintré. As is often the case in Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation may or may not be followed by the name of its climate of origin. These climats include Les Vignes Blanches, Les Ménétrières, Le Clos, Les Perrières, Vers Chânes (in the commune of Fuissé), La Frérie, En Servy, Le Clos, En Montgarcin, Les Chailloux, Les Bouthières, Les Morlays (in the commune of Solutré-Pouilly), La Maréchaude, Les Crays, Sur la Roche, En France, Les Courtelongs (in the commune of Vergisson), Le Clos Reyssié, Les Chevrières, Les Plessys, Le Clos de Monsieur Noly (in the commune of Chaintré).

The Pouilly-Fuissé vineyard covers approximately 760 hectares located at an altitude of between 200 and 300 meters, with an east/southeast and south exposure. The terroir rests on limestone banks with entroques typical of the Roche de Solutré and Vernisson, which are also emblematic of this vineyard.

Pouilly-Fuissé wines are white wines made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety. They are often rich and complex wines, with characteristic notes of minerals, citrus fruits, white flowers, breadcrumbs, and hints of honey. Of particular note are the wines produced by Château Fuissé, Château des Rontets, Domaine Bret Brothers, and Maison Bouchard Père et Fils.
