Pouilly-Fuissé
The Pouilly-Fuissé appellation d'origine contrôlée is a village appellation in the Macônais region of the Saône-et-Loire département. The Pouilly-Fuissé appellation covers the communes of Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré. As is often the case in Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation may or may not be followed by the name of the climat of origin. These climats include Les Vignes Blanches, Les Ménétrières, Le Clos, Les Perrières, Vers Chânes (in the commune of Fuissé), La Frérie, En Servy, Le Clos, En Montgarcin, Les Chailloux, Les Bouthières, Les Morlays (in the commune of Solutré-Pouilly), La Maréchaude, Les Crays, Sur la Roche, En France, Les Courtelongs (in the commune of Vergisson), Le Clos Reyssié, Les Chevrières, Les Plessys, Le Clos de Monsieur Noly (in the commune of Chaintré).

The Pouilly-Fuissé vineyard covers some 760 hectares at an altitude of between 200 and 300 meters, with east-south-east and south-facing slopes. The terroir lies on the entrusted limestone beds typical of Roche de Solutré and Vernisson, which are also emblematic of this vineyard.

Pouilly-Fuissé wines are white wines made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. They are often rich and complex, with characteristic notes of minerality, citrus, white flowers, breadcrumbs and a hint of honey. Of particular note are wines from Château Fuissé, Château des Rontets, Domaine Bret Brothers and Maison Bouchard Père et Fils.
