Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers, those representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

Gosset remains a small house in the world of Champagne giants, selling an average of one million bottles annually. At the helm of the technical team is a dynamic duo—Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Malagu—crafting a range that stays true to its core principles: freshness, liveliness, and minerality. To stay the course despite recent climate changes and the grapes’ increased ripeness, the house now favors Chardonnay in its blends, with a reduced proportion of Pinot Noir to maintain the consistent final flavor. Thanks to its consistency and assertive style, the range—which offers numerous cuvées, including some made from long-aged wines—deserved to be rewarded with an additional star. The winery has reached the pinnacle of our rankings.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2026) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

Whether it’s Celebris, the vintage prestige cuvée, as was the case last year, or the Grand Rosé, Gosset’s rosé cuvées feature prominently in the Guide’s selections. Both rely heavily on Chardonnay to achieve exceptional freshness. In this Grand Rosé, white grapes account for 48% of the blend, with 16% Meunier and 36% Pinot Noir (9% of which is vinified as red wine). With a rather soft pink hue, the color highlights the effervescence. The nose intensifies with aeration, unfolding aromas of red and black fruits (strawberry, blackcurrant), which blossom into a lingering palate, invigorated by a slight bitterness on the finish.

About the estate:

“The oldest house in Champagne” was founded in 1584, before the region’s wine became sparkling, by Pierre Gosset, alderman of Aÿ and vineyard owner. At the time, the wines from this town, often red, rivaled those of Beaune at court. Thirteen generations have succeeded Pierre Gosset. Now based in Épernay, the company has been part of the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1993. Gosset champagnes do not undergo malolactic fermentation. In 2016, Odilon de Varine, deputy director and oenologist, succeeded Jean-Pierre Mareigner. He was joined the following year by Gabrielle Malagu, to whom he entrusted joint responsibility for the cellar at the end of 2022.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2026 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

What an explosion of red fruits—from cherries to raspberries and wild strawberries! A hint of praline and violet as well. The palate is firm and austere (best decanted), yet doesn’t lack “juice” or salinity. A truly great rosé from Mâche, both chalky and fresh. Perfect, of course, for pairing with fine shellfish or for declaring your love

Wine rated (2026 guide) 92/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

Grand Rosé is precise, with aromas of red berries, grapefruit, and hibiscus. On the palate, its structure and power come together in a promising balance, though it is still very young.

About the estate:

The oldest Champagne house, founded in 1584, has been owned by the Renaud-Cointreau Group since 1994. Now under the leadership of Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Bouby-Malagu in the cellar, it is distinguished by its consistent production of wines that are intense and powerful, yet characterized by a beautiful tension that balances them and allows for harmonious aging.
