Robert Parker

“Concentrated, refined, and elegant, with the density characteristic of the vintage, this wine has real punch.” (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2016) For Pierre Gimonnet, a vintage Champagne was meant to be the House’s “Fleuron”—a wine produced in very small quantities only in exceptional years. Today, “Le Fleuron” remains the House’s traditional vintage Champagne and the most full-bodied in the range. It is a single-vineyard selection that is highly representative of the 2009 vintage.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 17,5/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2025 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

Concentrated, refined, and elegant, with the density characteristic of this vintage, this wine packs a punch.

About the estate:

Didier and Olivier Gimonnet carry on the family estate, cultivating 30 hectares across 40 plots in five villages of the Côte des Blancs—Cuis, Cramant, Oger, Chouilly, and Vertus—from which they strive to produce the purest expression of the terroir, with low dosages. As lovers of the vineyard, their viticultural approach is focused on respecting the soil and biodiversity. Pioneers in single-vineyard winemaking in stainless steel tanks, in the art of blending, and in true non-dosage champagnes, the Gimonnet style is recognizable for its refined, precise, and elegant complexity.

About the estate:

The Gimonnet de Cuis family traces its roots back to the 18th century. The champagne house was founded in the 1920s by Pierre. His son Michel was an early adopter of single-vineyard winemaking. Arriving at the estate in the 1980s, his grandsons Didier and Olivier took over in 1996. They manage a large estate (29 hectares) in the Côte des Blancs, comprising Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. Their lineup features Blanc de Blancs, with the exception of rosé.

Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Few Champagne winemakers can claim, as Didier and Olivier Gimonnet do, to manage a 28-hectare estate in the Côte des Blancs, including 12 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Cuis, Vertus, Cramant, Chouilly, and Oger. The two brothers continue the tradition of blending terroirs, perpetuating their refined, restrained style—free of any harshness (thanks to malolactic fermentation) and never overly exuberant—appealing to novices and connoisseurs of great Blanc de Blancs alike. The Gimmonets brilliantly tame the Chardonnays of Cuis, which are often cold and austere.
