Note: Guide Hachette 2** (remarkable wine)
“Born from the loving union of Niellucciu and Syrah, this red wine presents itself in a dark, very elegant robe. Its nose of ripe red berries from the maquis heralds a full-bodied, long finish with silky tannins. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2010). “One of the jewels in the Skalli family’s red wine collection...its value for money should put many pretentious wines from the south of the continent to shame—wines that disgrace the wine lists of luxury restaurants in the same region.” (Bettane & Desseauve for Le Monde 2).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Jean-François Renucci took over Clos Poggiale alongside Terra Vecchia, and immediately the wines regained the charm and finesse of the fine vintages from the Skalli era. The terroir is well-suited to all three wine types, and his commitment to promoting the wines across Europe and as far as Asia will benefit the entire Corsican wine industry.
