"A remarkable and elegant wine!"

"The result of a skilful blend of 80% Niellucciu complemented by Sciaccarellu, Carcaghjolu Neru, and Syrah. Completely destemmed and aged in casks and demi-muids, this bright purple-red infusion exudes a ripe, precise juice, dominated by stone fruits, spices, and blood oranges. The whole is pure and juicy, harmonious and fresh, backed by a noble and fine woodiness that is well integrated. The texture is fine in tannins, a sapid ensemble that is easy to drink and capable of evolving positively over a decade. Its smoky finish, with a hint of Zan, contributes to its deliciousness. Rated estate (2023 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

Yves Canarelli cultivates more than 30 hectares in the Figari and Bonifacio areas using biodynamic methods, selecting the Corsican grape varieties best suited to his taste and terroir. The new winery allows for vinification in different containers: amphorae, concrete eggs, barrels, and casks. After creating his grand cru, Tarra di Sognu, on the limestone terroir of Bonifacio, the big news is the clearing and planting of a superb new vineyard by and for Simon, his son, who promises to be as talented and accomplished as his father. A flawless track record this year.

About the estate:

Yves Canarelli has established himself as the leading winemaker in southern Corsica, with a passion for ampelography (the old Biancu Gentile, Carcaghjolu Neru, and Minustellu grape varieties have been replanted). In 2009, he took over a plot of pre-phylloxera vines in the village of Orasi (Tarra d'Orasi cuvée) and vinifies two superb cuvées in large clay amphorae (Amphora). In partnership with the famous Corsican sommelier Patrick Fioramonti, Yves Canarelli replanted the first vineyard in Bonifacio on a plateau overlooking the town, rich in limestone that is rare on the island: thus Tarra di Sognu was born. The wines produced here reveal an immense terroir and grow in power as the vines age. With the arrival of Simon-Paul, his son, they are writing the most beautiful pages of the island's new viticulture.
