Figari
The Figari Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) was granted to this Corsican terroir in 1976. Nestled inland, sheltered by the bell tower of Tarabucetta, Corsica's southernmost vineyard bears the remnants of the first vines planted in the 6th century BCE. Today, the Figari appellation covers the municipalities of Figari, Monacia-d'Aullène, and Pianottoli-Caldarello.

The 130 hectares of the Figari vineyard yield an annual production of around 4,500 hectoliters of wine. The climate is so harsh that the vines seem to grow solely through the strength of the winemakers, yielding bottles of wine of extreme finesse. The Clos Canarelli estate is undoubtedly the one that best expresses the character of Figari’s exceptional terroir.

Figari’s wines can be red or rosé, blended from the primary grape varieties Nielluccio, Sciacarello, and Grenache Noir, to which Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Barbarossa, Syrah, Carignan, and Vermentino may be added. As for white wines, Figari’s winemakers primarily use the Vermentino (at least 25%) and Ugni varieties.
