Figari
The Figari appellation d'origine contrôlée was granted to this Corsican terroir in 1976. Secluded inland, sheltered by the Tarabucetta bell tower, Corsica's southernmost vineyard bears the remains of the first vines planted in the 6th century BC. Today, the Figari appellation covers the communes of Figari, Monacia-d'Aullène and Pianottoli-Caldarello.

The 130-hectare Figari vineyard produces around 4,500 hectolitres of wine a year. The climate here is so harsh that the vines seem to grow on their own strength, producing bottles of extremely fine wine. Domaine Clos Canarelli is undoubtedly the one that best expresses the character of Figari's exceptional terroir.

Figari wines can be red or rosé, blended from the main grape varieties Nielluccio, Sciacarello and Grenache noir, to which can be added Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Barbarossa, Syrah, Carignan and Vermentino. As for white wines, Figari winemakers mainly use Vermentino (minimum 25%) and Ugni grapes.
