Figari
The Figari appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) was recognized for this Corsican terroir in 1976. Set back inland, sheltered by the bell tower of Tarabucetta, Corsica's southernmost vineyard bears the remains of the first vines planted in the 6th century BC. Today, the Figari appellation covers the municipalities of Figari, Monacia-d'Aullène, and Pianottoli-Caldarello.

The 130 hectares of the Figari vineyard produce around 4,500 hectoliters of wine annually. The climate is so harsh that the vines seem to grow solely through the efforts of the winegrowers, producing bottles of wine of extreme finesse. The Clos Canarelli estate is undoubtedly the one that best expresses the character of Figari's exceptional terroir.

Figari wines can be red or rosé, blended from the main grape varieties Nielluccio, Sciacarello, and Grenache Noir, to which Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Barbarossa, Syrah, Carignan, and Vermentino may be added. As for white wines, Figari winegrowers mainly use the Vermentino (minimum 25%) and Ugni grape varieties.
