"This vintage offers such complexity that it evokes the Rhône region with Mediterranean accents: a gem from the Iberian Peninsula!"

“The Com Tu 2022 is a village-level red wine from La Figuera, in the Montsant region, sourced from a higher-altitude terroir with varied, limestone- and clay-rich soils, and made from Grenache grapes from three plots. [...] It has a very classic nose, with notes of smoked bacon that transported me to the Rhône Valley. It comes from a vineyard similar to those used by Christian Barbier to make his Deunido, but it is extremely different [...] The wine has a Mediterranean profile with plenty of aromatic herbs, wilted flowers, and a subtle earthy touch. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a pleasant texture and slightly dusty tannins.[...] 2025–2035” (Robert Parker 2025)

About the wine:

Com Tu 2022 is a village red wine from La Figuera, in the Montsant region, sourced from a higher-altitude terroir with varied, limestone- and clay-rich soils, and produced from Grenache grapes grown on three plots. Forty percent of the wine underwent semi-carbonic maceration, and 60% underwent a long maceration after destemming; it was then aged in old oak casks and concrete tanks for 18 months. This wine was launched by the youngest son, Anderson, and is now produced by his brothers, as he has shifted his focus to gastronomy and is now planning to launch a wine project in Terra Alta. It has a very classic nose, with notes of smoked bacon that transported me to the Rhône Valley. It comes from a vineyard similar to those used by Christian Barbier to make his Deunido, but it’s extremely different, and they’ve started working with cover crops. They’ve used a new label this year. Christian told me that the label was inspired by the wines of Viña Tondonia (it also reminded me of the old Masia Barril labels), representing the village (it’s a village wine) and featuring a traditional look. The wine has a Mediterranean profile with plenty of aromatic herbs, wilted flowers, and a subtle earthy touch. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a pleasant texture and slightly dusty tannins. 12,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024. 2025–2035

About the wine:

The nose is herbaceous, with aromas of wild berries, dried Mediterranean herbs, and lovely notes of sauerkraut and ripe, sweet red berries. The palate is firm and textured, with round, mineral-driven fruit that flows into a long finish. Enjoy now or celller.
