Rueda
Rueda is a designation of origin located in the Castilla y León region of Spain. The Denominación de Origen label was granted to Rueda wines in 1980. It was also the first official designation of origin in this region.
The Rueda terroir mainly produces white wines from the Verdejo (minimum 85%), Palomino, Viura, and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties. The main production areas are Rueda, La Seca, and Serrada, although the appellation covers a larger area.
For the production of Rueda white wines, the Verdejo grape variety has a thick, resistant skin that is rich in aromas. Skin maceration is most often used to optimize the aromatic quality of this grape variety. Rich in glycerin, it is full-bodied and has a wonderfully fresh finish. The wines offered by Bodegas Ossian showcase all these qualities.

Since 2008, the DO Rueda designation can also be granted to red and rosé wines produced within the appellation's boundaries.
