"The sublime Barahonda Barrica 2012 reveals itself in a dense ruby/purple color, with copious notes of blackberry, licorice, camphor, white flowers, and pepper. This ripe, medium-bodied, opulent, and fleshy red should be enjoyed for several years. It's a real bargain. " (Wine Advocate August 2014 - Robert Parker)

Has not yet promised to comment. There are Yecla wines that are much more appealing than this one.

A slightly complex wine on the palate, expressing the power and balance of Mourvèdre and Syrah. Excellent value for money.

Review and opinion by Mr. CHRISTIAN R. Published on 03/28/2016
Upon opening, the nose is rather discreet and the palate is not very expressive, but remains fresh despite its 14.5% alcohol content. This wine leaves me perplexed. A 91 Parker rating should be a revelation, but it is not. The finish is not very long and has a slight astringency. After two hours of aeration, the nose is dominated by elegant, well-integrated oak and an aroma that I can't quite define but which I like. Black fruits (blackberries) finally appear with a finish of pepper and licorice. On reflection, I am growing increasingly fond of this wine, which is discreet, even reserved, at first. Given its price, it offers excellent value for money and, for someone like me who had no reference points in southern Spain, it is a wonderful discovery.

Very surprising. Excellent right now. Let it breathe for half an hour to allow the aromas to develop.
