“100/100 from Parker & Wine Enthusiast!”

“Here it is: the magic of Il Marroneto. To my palate, Alessandro Mori’s 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie best captures the soaring spirit and ambition of Brunello, crafted in its purest and most unadorned form. This vintage is a twin brother to the 2010, which I awarded a perfect score.* [...] Having now tasted the 2010 vintage on several occasions, I have a better idea of what to expect regarding the 2016’s short-term evolution. I know that the sharp purity of the fruit will soften to give way to more nuanced and refined notes of undergrowth, lilac, iron ore, and candied orange peel over the next five years. This wine unfolds to reveal deep complexity right from the start, with bright, lively red fruit at its heart. It pulsates with electric energy and charm.” (Wine Advocate 2020) *(Editor’s note: 100)

About the wine:

Here it is: the magic of Il Marroneto. To my palate, Alessandro Mori’s 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie best captures the soaring spirit and ambition of Brunello, crafted in its purest and most unadorned form. This vintage is a twin brother to the 2010, which I awarded a perfect score. While that wine had surprised me, appearing with such unexpected brilliance and radiance, this one won me over in a more measured, less emotional, and more contemplative way. Having now tasted the 2010 vintage several times, I have a better idea of what to expect regarding the 2016’s short-term evolution. I know that the sharp purity of the fruit will soften to give way to more nuanced and refined notes of undergrowth, lilac, iron ore, and candied orange peel over the next five years. This wine unfolds to reveal deep complexity right from the start, with bright, lively red fruit at its heart. It vibrates with electric energy and charm.

About the wine:

This breathtaking wine is intended for Sangiovese purists and lovers of extreme finesse. It opens with enticing aromas of rose, violet, berries, freshly tilled earth, and new leather; it is young and intense yet already a classic. Concentrated, structured, and radiant, the finely crafted palate offers aromas of cherry, raspberry, licorice, and crushed mint, leading to a tobacco-tinged finish. Taut, refined tannins and brilliant acidity keep it perfectly balanced. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2046.
