Critics are raving about this Italian Merlot, describing it as fantastic, harmonious, and unbeatable!

The Galatrona 2021 is a rich, deep, and expansive wine with remarkable depth of texture and structure. Black fruits, sage, lavender, mocha, and toasted herbs are all amplified in this powerful Merlot. Readers will need to be patient, as this wine will require a number of years to reach its peak. A complex and dynamic Galatrona, the 2021 is simply superb." (Vinous 2024)

Wine rated (2023 guide) 97/100

About wine:

The wine is a brilliant purple color and has wonderful aromas of black cherry and blackcurrant with floral notes—this 100% Merlot is wonderfully fragrant and inviting. Smooth, full-bodied, and truly seductive on the palate, it is almost sensual with its silky yet gripping tannins, beautifully ripe blackcurrant and cherry fruit, and crisp, crunchy acidity that is neither too sharp nor too obvious, but lifts the palate and adds a thrill and wonderful freshness to the overall expression. Beautifully presented, harmonious, balanced, and thoroughly enjoyable from the first sip to the last. A magnificent wine, intense yet energetic, full of flavors and textural nuances. Totally unbeatable, although it has great potential for improvement with age. The wine spent 18 months in French oak barrels and casks, 30% of which were new. 2026-2042

About wine:

The nose presents a vast world of savory aromas, ranging from sanguine to metallic, woody and earthy, with cranberries, currants, and dark berries offering a sweet contrast. The palate is lively, with the warmth of earth and barely ripe fruit, and austere tannins that promise good aging potential. An absolutely acrobatic feat for a Merlot.

About wine:

The aromas are very distinct, with dried flowers such as lavender and violet. A hint of sage too. Black berries and black olive skin. The palate is full-bodied, but linear and energetic, with very fine tannins and fantastic length. The finish is fresh and lively. Best after 2026.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Wine rated (2024 guide) 100/100

About wine:

Dark ruby red color. Finely spiced nose, blackcurrant, subtle earthy notes, plus a hint of dried rose petals and a touch of cigar box. On the palate, a fruity texture intertwined with juicy, consistent tannins, elegant fluidity, and a long, juicy finish with subtle spicy notes, still a little young.
