"Critics are raving about this Italian Merlot, which they describe as fantastic, harmonious, and unbeatable!"

"The 2021 Galatrona is a rich, deep, and expansive wine, with remarkable depth of texture and structure. Black fruit, sage, lavender, mocha, and toasted herbs all come to the fore in this powerful Merlot. Drinkers will need to be patient, as this wine will require several years to reach its peak. A complex and dynamic Galatrona, the 2021 is simply superb.” (Vinous 2024)

Wine rated (2023 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

The wine has a brilliant purple color and offers magnificent aromas of black cherry and blackcurrant with floral notes—this 100% Merlot is wonderfully fragrant and inviting. Soft, full-bodied, and truly seductive on the palate, almost sensual in its silky yet firm tannins, its beautifully ripe blackcurrant and cherry fruit, and its crisp, crunchy acidity—which is neither too sharp nor too pronounced, but lifts the palate and adds a thrill and wonderful freshness to the overall expression. Beautifully presented, harmonious, balanced, and thoroughly enjoyable from the first to the last sip. A magnificent wine, intense yet energetic, full of flavors and textural nuances. Absolutely unbeatable, though it has great potential to improve with age. The wine spent 18 months in French oak barrels and casks, 30% of which were new. 2026–2042

About the wine:

The nose reveals a vast array of savory aromas, ranging from blood-like and metallic notes to woody and earthy tones, with cranberries, redcurrants, and dark berries providing a pleasant contrast. The palate is lively, with the warmth of the earth and barely ripe fruit, and austere tannins that promise good aging potential. An absolutely remarkable feat for a Merlot.

Rated: Recommended

About the wine:

The aromas are very distinct, featuring dried flowers such as lavender and violet. There’s also a hint of sage. Black berries and black olive skin. The palate is full-bodied yet linear and energetic, with very fine tannins and fantastic length. The finish is fresh and lively. Best after 2026.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Wine rated (2024 guide) 100/100

About the wine:

Deep ruby red color. The nose is subtly spicy, with blackcurrant, subtle earthy notes, a hint of dried rose petals, and a touch of cigar box. On the palate, it has a fruity texture intertwined with juicy, firm tannins, elegant fluidity, and a long, juicy finish with subtle spicy notes; it’s still a bit young.
