"The critics are raving about this Italian Merlot, which is considered fantastic, harmonious and unbeatable!"

"Galatrona 2021 is a rich, deep and expansive wine with remarkable depth of texture and structure. Black fruits, sage, lavender, mocha and roasted herbs are all amplified in this powerful Merlot. Readers will need to be patient, as this wine will need a number of years to reach its peak. A complex and dynamic Galatrona, the 2021 is simply superb." (Vinous 2024)

Wine rated (2023 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

The glass is a brilliant crimson with gorgeous aromas of black cherry and cassis with floral touches - this 100% Merlot is wonderfully fragrant and inviting. Soft, full, really very seductive on the palate, sensual almost in its silky yet gripping tannins, beautifully ripe blackcurrant and cherry fruit and crisp, crunchy acidity that is neither too sharp nor too obvious, but lifts the palate and gives a thrill and wonderful freshness to the overall expression. Beautifully presented, harmonious, balanced and totally enjoyable from first to last sip. A magnificent wine, intense yet energetic, full of flavor and textural nuance. Totally indestructible, although it has great potential for improvement with age. The wine spent 18 months in French oak barrels and barriques, 30% of which were new. 2026-2042

About the wine:

The nose presents a vast world of luscious aromas, ranging from sanguine to metallic, woody and earthy, with cranberries, currants and dark berries providing gentle contrast. The palate is lively, with the warmth of earth and just-ripe fruit, and austere tannins that promise good staying power over time. An absolutely acrobatic feat for a Merlot.

About the wine:

The aromas are very distinct, with dried flowers such as lavender and violet. Some sage too. Black berries and black olive skin. The palate is full-bodied, yet linear and energetic, with very fine tannins and fantastic length. The finish is fresh and lively. Best after 2026.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Wine rated (2024 guide) 100/100

About the wine:

Dark ruby-red color. Finely spiced nose, blackcurrant, fine earthy notes, plus a hint of dried rose petal, a little cigar box. On the palate, a fruity, tangled texture with juicy, consistent tannins, elegant fluidity, a long, juicy finish on finely spicy notes, still a little young.
