Mas Foulaquier - The White Bird 2014

Mas Foulaquier - L'Oiseau blanc 2014

Made from Clairette and Vermentino (Rolle) grapes and vinified in vats, L'Oiseau Blanc has a golden color and is very aromatic on the nose, both fresh and complex, with aromas of citrus and white-fleshed fruits. Revealing great freshness on the palate, it would pair well with bouillabaisse, for example.

Rated estate (2018 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Located north of the Pic Saint-Loup appellation, this estate consists of a large south-west facing hillside plot on limestone scree, planted mainly with Grenache and Syrah. This is the Foulaquier terroir itself, which is joined by the more loamy Tonillières terroir, facing north-east. This adventure, which began in 1998, is led by Pierre Jequier, a former architect, and Blandine Chauchat, a former parliamentary official. These passionate winemakers have restructured the estate, which has very ancient origins, by steering it towards organic and then biodynamic certification. After a few minor adjustments, they now offer a renewed range of healthy, delicious and fragrant wines, most of which are aged in a reductive environment.
