Rated estate (2018 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Located north of the Pic Saint-Loup appellation, this estate consists of a large southwestern-facing hillside plot on limestone scree, planted primarily with Grenache and Syrah. This is the Foulaquier terroir proper, which is joined within the estate by the more loamy, northeastern-facing Tonillières terroir. This venture, launched in 1998, is led by the couple Pierre Jequier, a former architect, and Blandine Chauchat, a former parliamentary official. These passionate winemakers have restructured the estate, which has very ancient origins, steering it toward certification in organic and then biodynamic farming. After a few minor adjustments, they present a renewed range of healthy, delicious, and fragrant wines, most of which are aged in a reductive environment.
