Wine Description: A few years ago, Le Clos du Prieur gave the Orliac family the opportunity to put their talents to work 25 km from the Domaine de l'Hortus, right in the heart of the Buèges Valley. This 10-hectare enclave is home to Syrah and Grenache vines, which produce this red wine crafted using traditional methods. A wine that immediately captivates with its floral and powerful character, its complex profile blending iris, bay leaf, blackcurrant, and wild berries, and its long, distinctive almond-tinged finish. A supple, full-bodied wine to enjoy right away!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2026 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

With one foot in the Pic Saint-Loup region and the other in the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation and the IGPs, the Orliac family owns 80 hectares of vineyards in the garrigue, in the heart of the Hérault. Jean oversees the estate’s future with great wisdom, despite the losses the family has suffered. With several wine lines spread across this wide range of terroirs (Bergerie de l’Hortus, Clos du Prieur), the Orliac family strives to produce wines of great precision, particularly the reds, which are refined and elegant. The style of the wines is evolving, with a premium cuvée, Le Dit de l'Hortus, remaining true to the estate’s tradition, while the other cuvées are moving toward greater lightness to be more approachable sooner.

A truly beautiful, full-bodied Languedoc. It’s a shame that prices keep going up regardless of the vintage’s quality.
