About the wine:
A blend of 40% Mourvèdre, 30% Carignan, and 30% Syrah, the 2020 Primus from Mas des Capitelles offers aromas of rose petals, black berries, blackcurrant, and spices, intertwined with fresh notes of menthol. Medium- to full-bodied, enveloping, and harmonious, it is juicy, with beautiful depth on the palate and a long, airy, and enticing finish. This fresh, elegant, and straightforward Faugères was aged for 18 months in used barrels.
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2023 guide) 17/20
About the wine:
The Syrah is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. Intense aromas of blackberry permeate every nook and cranny of the wine like soot. The tart-sweet acidity of raspberry sparks flashes of bright red through the shimmering darkness of the fruit, while blackcurrant leaf brings a mentholated warmth that is both fresh and fiery. A lively acidity of rosehip and hibiscus petals, yet there is also a creamy heart. Very Faugères in every respect, but with a fluidity and grace worthy of an oboe—fresher and juicier than most.

Wine rated 92/100
About the wine:
An original blend dominated by Mourvèdre and Carignan, the Primus 2020 is built around a palette of dark fruits—black cherry, blackberry—expressed with both generosity and finesse. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, unfiltered and lightly sulfited, it reveals notes of licorice and pepper on the finish. But it is above all its incisive acidity that leaves a lasting impression, bringing a distinct tension and an almost sharp sensation on the finish, energizing the palate.
