Today, it is Valérie Guérin who holds the estate’s destiny in her passionate hands The Thousand Vines. The inspiration behind this name, which seems to have come straight out of a storybook, was Jacques Guérin, a professor and oenologist in Orange, who acquired 1,000 grapevines in 1979 in the town of La Palme, in the Aude department. He was joined in 2000 by his daughter Valérie Guérin, who devotes meticulous care to the vines across an 11-hectare vineyard comprising 13 distinct plots, which she tends like gardens within the Fitou, Rivesaltes, and Muscat de Rivesaltes appellations.

The estate’s Mille Vignes vineyards overlook the sea in the distance and border ponds and scrubland. A wide range of choices allows for the creation of wines with character—concentrated, precise, and distinctive: mass selection, old vines (Grenache and Carignan), regional native grape varieties, soil management without potassium or nitrogen, green harvesting to limit yields (extremely low, 20 hl/ha), and aging without barrels.
