Today, it is Valérie Guérin who holds the estate’s destiny in her passionate hands The Thousand Vineyards. The inspiration for this name, which seems to have come straight out of a storybook, was Jacques Guérin, a professor and oenologist in Orange, who acquired 1,000 grapevines in 1979 in the town of La Palme, in the Aude department. In 2000, he was joined by his daughter, Valérie Guérin, who brings meticulous care to the vines on an 11-hectare vineyard comprising 13 distinct plots, which she tends like gardens within the Fitou, Rivesaltes, and Muscat de Rivesaltes appellations.

The estate’s Mille Vignes vineyards overlook the sea in the distance and are bordered by ponds and scrubland. A wide range of choices allows the estate to produce wines full of character—concentrated, precise, and distinctive: massal selection, old vines (Grenache and Carignan), grape varieties native to the region, soil management without potash or nitrogen, green harvesting to limit yields (extremely low, at 20 hl/ha), and aging without barrels.
