Gard
The Gard PGI designation is closely linked to the Costières de Nîmes AOC designation, from which it generally derives. It is obtained by downgrading after producers add grape varieties that are not authorized in the AOC. The Gard IGP appellation benefits from the same climatic and terroir characteristics in every respect and produces red, white, and rosé wines.

The Gard IGP terroir now covers 24 communes and extends over 25,000 hectares of hills and plateaus between 20 and 100 meters above sea level, only half of which is planted. The Mediterranean climate with maritime influences is characterized by three components: sunshine with more than 250 days of sunshine per year, rainfall concentrated on a small number of days, and the Mistral wind that blows and cleanses the vineyards. Thanks to the water table, the vines are protected from summer drought. These different elements produce grapes with high potential and high sugar content.

The grape varieties used in the Gard IGP red and rosé wines are Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault. The main white grape varieties are Grenache blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Maccabeu, and Rolle. Château Mourgues du Grès, Mas Montel, and Domaine Roc d'Anglade offer products that allow you to fully appreciate the qualities of the Gard IGP appellation.
