Gard
The Gard IGP designation is closely linked to the Costières de Nîmes AOC, from which it generally derives. It is granted through downgrading after producers add grape varieties not authorized under the AOC. The Gard IGP designation benefits in every respect from the same climatic and terroir characteristics and produces red, white, and rosé wines.

The Gard IGP terroir currently covers 24 municipalities and spans 25,000 hectares of hills and plateaus at altitudes between 20 and 100 meters, only half of which is planted. The Mediterranean climate, with maritime influences, is characterized by three key factors: sunshine, with over 250 days of sunshine per year; rainfall concentrated over a limited number of days; and the Mistral wind, which blows through and cleanses the vineyards. Thanks to the water table, the vines are spared from summer drought. These various factors produce grapes with high potential and high sugar content.

The grape varieties of the Gard IGP wines for reds and rosés consist of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault. For whites, the main grape varieties are Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Maccabeu, and Rolle. Château Mourgues du Grès, Mas Montel, and Domaine Roc d'Anglade offer wines that allow you to fully appreciate the qualities of the Gard IGP appellation.
