Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

"Les Creisses" refers to the pebbles. Philippe Chesnelong took over this family estate in 1990. He is assisted by his cousin, Louis Mitjaville, whose reputation extends far beyond Saint-Émilion. The "Les-Brunes" cuvée generally leans toward power, while the "Les Creisses" cuvée, which is more approachable, bursts with flavor. A truly excellent choice.

An incredible vintage, with rare intensity and a beautiful finish. I remember it going for €25—those were the days, weren't they?
