Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100 (2020 vintage)

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

This estate, which had fallen into disrepair when Denys Armand took it over in 1980, is located in the town of Saint-Mamert-du-Gard, halfway between Uzès and Sommières, in the Lens Mountains. Upon his arrival, the winemaker undertook extensive restoration work to preserve the heritage of the old vines, replant new grape varieties, and convert the sheepfold into a aging cellar. The estate has been certified biodynamic since 2013. The vineyard is highly diverse, with no fewer than 16 grape varieties being vinified. The wide daily temperature range and the coolness of the terroir explain why half of the production is devoted to whites, which are lively and elegant. The reds express the same finesse, combining intense aromas with delicate and soft textures. This production and the variety of cuvées bring a breath of fresh air and renewal to the Languedoc.
