"The elegance of Pinot Noir, the fruitiness of Gamay, and the aromatic notes of Côt come together in this fine bottle"

“Well-structured yet subtle, with delicate spice, supported by silky tannins and partial barrel aging that doesn’t overshadow the fruit, this ambitious red is sure to please. It is a worthy representative of the appellation, best suited for short-term aging and a fine cut of beef.”(Le Guide Hachette 2023)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

Well-structured yet subtle, with delicate spice notes, supported by silky tannins and partial barrel aging that doesn’t overpower the fruit, this ambitious red is sure to please. It is a worthy representative of the appellation, best suited for short-term aging and pairing with a fine cut of beef.

About the estate:

Vincent Hayer, who served as the estate’s operations director for nearly 20 years, took over management of the property in 2020. The estate, formerly a vineyard belonging to Château de Troussay, has been certified organic since 2012 and biodynamic since 2015. Owned by the deeply committed Chevrier family, the estate spans 30 hectares divided between Cour-Cheverny and Cheverny, featuring notably very old Sauvignon vines.

About the estate:

With the departure of Italian Laura Semeria, a new chapter begins at the Montcy estate. [...] a family of investors from Orléans has stepped in to steer the future of this biodynamically farmed property in Cheverny. The wines presented retain an authentic character and aromas, without any pretension. They respect the aging process and the identity of the Sauvignon and Chardonnay for the whites; and the Pinot Noir and Gamay for the reds. Let’s observe the transition...

Wine rated (2023 guide) 17/20

About the wine:

A very unusual blend! But it really works. It’s bursting with juicy, fresh fruit that’s also slightly sweet. The soft, supple tannins are firm yet balanced. The wine’s herbal character carries it into a longer finish and gives it more depth than the fruit alone would suggest. It’s a trendy bar wine. I love this wine. Pair it with small plates.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

Strawberries, red currants, plums, peppercorns, and a hint of damp earth. Medium-bodied, with delicate tannins. Supple, juicy, and elegant, with a savory finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes certified by Demeter. Ready to drink now.
