Far from the effervescent and mellow wines typically associated with this grape variety, Fred Sigonneau has created a superb Chenin that strives for purity and minerality in a surprising wine. A generous, voluminous attack, followed by tension that leads to balance. A surprising and rare Chenin!

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Frédéric Sigonneau has revived the family estate: this newcomer to Chinon cut his teeth working for Antoine Foucault. His six hectares in Cravant are certified organic, without going to extremes such as sulfur-free for most of his vintages. Les Folies-du-Noyer-Vert wines are aged in wood and are intended for short-term aging.

About the estate:
After spending two years in Spain (Dominio de Atauta in Ribera del Duero), Frédéric Sigonneau founded his estate in 2007 using vines from the family farm in Cravant-lès-Coteaux. His vineyard now covers 8 hectares and is farmed organically, with a focus on biodynamics.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
A lively blend, medium-bodied. Not very powerful in structure, but lively, floral, and very easy to drink. More refined than full-bodied.
About the estate:
After gaining experience in Spain (Ribera del Duero with Bertrand Sourdais), Frédéric Sigoneau returned to his native region and took over a few plots in Cravant-les-Coteaux in 2007. He is committed to managing the vineyard and vinifying the wine in the most natural way possible. The estate is now running at full speed with several distinctive vintages. Frédéric's keen sense of fruit is evident in the Les 5 Éléments vintage. Try to find one of the rare bottles of Les Mains Sales for a truly indulgent experience.

Light white wine in production. Beautiful floral notes but lacking in length and roundness.
