Domaine de L'R

TheDomaine de l’R covers nearly 8 hectares on a vast gravel plain on the right bank of the Vienne River, in the heart of the Chinon appellation. After an early career that took him as far as Spain, winemaker Frédéric Sigonneau returned to Touraine in 2004 and founded his estate in 2007 on the site of his family’s former estate in Cravant-les-Coteaux. From the very beginning, he chose to adopt organic farming for his Cabernet Franc, favoring a method free of herbicides and insecticides where the soil is treated primarily with copper and sulfur. During harvest, the grapes are picked by hand and transported in crates. In the cellar, the grapes are transferred to vats by gravity, with short pump-overs and the use of indigenous yeasts. The vineyard management and winemaking processes are thus as natural as possible, and Domaine de l'R has now found its stride, establishing itself as one of Chinon’s essential references thanks to several distinctive vintages that reveal a keen sense of fruit, depth, and complexity.
