"The estate's reserve cuvée with great potential and superb balance!"

"Fifty-year-old Cabernets planted on flinty clay soils have produced a galant Chinon, full-bodied, fresh, with black fruit flavors enhanced by spicy notes and a hint of vanilla. A job well done. (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the domain :

Established since 1981 on part of the family estate in Cravant-les-Coteaux, Pierre Sourdais manages his 27 hectares of vines using organic farming methods, with terroirs on the plains and others on the hillsides. The réserve-stanislas and les-boulaies cuvées are the ones to look for first, as they give the wines with the best tannic structure and ageing potential.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

Fifty-year-old Cabernets planted on flinty clay soils have produced a gallant Chinon, full-bodied and fresh, with black fruit flavors enhanced by spicy notes and a hint of vanilla. A job well done.

About the domain :

It was at Moulin-à-Tan that oak bark used to be crushed for hide processing in the region's many tanneries. Today, the old mill has given way to a 27-hectare vineyard run organically by Pierre Sourdais, who is gradually handing over the reins to his daughter Caroline and son-in-law Sylvain. A sure bet in the Chinon region.
