Domaine Pierre Sourdais

Domaine Pierre Sourdais, founded in the early 1980s with 8 hectares of vineyards, is a family-owned estate run with talent and passion, and ranks among the leading names in the Chinon region.

Today, Domaine Pierre Sourdais comprises 27 hectares of vineyards, planted exclusively with Cabernet Franc—some of whose vines are over 60 years old—and cultivated using organic farming methods, which have been certified since 2012. The gravelly terraces along the banks of the Vienne River provide this grape variety with a unique environment that produces wines characterized by their fruitiness and drinkability. These gravelly soils are complemented by plots on hillsides and plateaus composed of clay-limestone or clay-flint soils (Pallus, les Pentes, les Cornuelles, les Boulais, and le Moulin à Tan), which lend structure and character to Pierre Sourdais’ wines.

At Domaine Pierre Sourdais, soil management has always been a priority, and the decision to adopt organic farming is a natural extension of this commitment. Pierre Sourdais’ Chinon wines have patiently built their reputation on the remarkable quality of their grapes and exemplary production standards.
