"As red wines, Gamays possess a vibrancy of aromas and body that makes them very appealing (RVF)"

The Gamay vines, growing on soil that is half volcanic and half clay-granite, offer a distinctly mineral character unique to these basalt soils. The wine is fresh, bursting with red fruit flavors supported by subtle spicy notes. The rich, fruity palate is explosively fresh!

About the estate:

Gilles Bonnefoy built his estate from the ground up starting in 1997: he planted vineyards from 2001 to 2016 and built the winery in 2004. Today, the 10.5-hectare estate is farmed biodynamically and is situated on the outskirts of two volcanoes: La Madone and Le Pigeonnier.

Rated estate (2027 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

As red wines, Gamays possess a vibrancy of aromas and body that makes them very appealing.

About the estate:

Les Vins de la Madone offer one of the most exciting experiences in the Côtes du Forez, a low-key appellation located between Saint-Étienne and Clermont-Ferrand, at the gateway to the Livradois-Forez Natural Park. Gilles Bonnefoy strives to capture the sparkling purity of the fruit, both in his Gamay reds and in his whites (IGP d’Urfé), which include a Roussanne and a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris. This vibrancy, drawn from granite and volcanic soils, is achieved through biodynamic vineyard management (certified in 2008), winemaking that partially uses whole clusters, and aging exclusively in tanks. The star is firmly set.
