Philippe Gilbert Estate
In 1768, François Gilbert left his job as a tavern keeper to take over his father-in-law’s estate. In the early 20th century, Philippe Gilbert (the grandfather of the current Philippe Gilbert) redesigned and built the estate as it stands today. The various modifications made to this Berry-style building led Philippe Gilbert to collaborate with visual artist Mario d'Sousa to harmonize the overall structure.

The Philippe Gilbert estate is a 28-hectare family-run estate located in the heart of the Menetou-Salon appellation. Practicing biodynamic agriculture since 2006 and certified by Biodyvin since 2007, the estate seeks to enhance the soil in which the vines are planted—namely, clay-limestone soils over Kimmeridgian subsoils. Thus, the Philippe Gilbert estate expresses the character of its terroir in two distinct styles: the estate cuvée (red and white), focused on freshness and balance, and Les Renardières (red and white), vinified in barrels from old vines to produce complex and powerful wines.
