This sparkling wine, with its very fine bubbles, is made using the traditional method and is made entirely from Cabernet Franc grapes. It boasts a beautiful pale gold color, a nose with lovely, delicate, floral aromas, and a crisp palate with good body. A great companion for moments of enjoyment!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though a bit more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Arnaud, who has been at the helm for several vintages now, is now in sole charge. The Clos-de-l’Olive and the Clos-de-l’Écho—the winery’s two flagship wines—are age-worthy wines that best express their terroir: the former with depth, and the latter with power. Don’t overlook the “simple” René-Couly Chinon, a delightful source of immediate pleasure.

Rated estate (2026 guide): 2* Stars (Remarkable wine)

About the estate:

The Couly-Dutheil estate was founded in 1921 by Baptiste Dutheil; it is now run by Jacques Couly-Dutheil and his son Arnaud. With vineyards spanning nearly 94 hectares—including the prestigious Clos de l’Écho and Clos de l’Olive—a modern winery carved into the rock, and impressive 10th-century cellars located beneath the Château de Chinon, it is an integral part of the Chinon wine-growing landscape. A must-visit destination.
