About the estate:

In the Muscadet region, Frédéric Lailler continues to make strides, cultivating his ten-hectare estate using organic methods. The quality of the vineyards is truly impressive (six hectares on the gabbro soils of Gorges and one hectare in the granite-rich area of Clisson). The average age of the vineyard is around 65 years. Priced between 7 and 14 euros, you’ll want to act fast to build up a good cellar stock.

Frédéric Lailler kept the estate’s name as a tribute to its former owner, Michel Brégeon, who, in 2011, passed on to him his vineyards—with an average age of 65 years—spanning the Clisson (granite) and Gorges (gabbro) regions. Two village wines are showcased in these flavorful, easy-drinking whites, whose dynamic richness makes them invigorating—a far cry from the restrained Muscadets.

While not particularly ambitious, this entry-level Muscadet still gets the job done, emphasizing freshness and natural fruit right from the first sip. It unfolds in a linear fashion against a backdrop of subtle minerality. A hint of bitterness adds a touch of refreshing liveliness—and a much-anticipated finish. However, overall it lacks a touch of stony structure, depth—in short, originality! Average value for the price. This very light Muscadet was paired simply with Bouchot mussels and homemade fries. Marennes-Oléron oysters au gratin with Parmesan would have been just as appropriate. Rating = 3.5.
