“A fine example of the appellation, a sure bet for this age-worthy wine”

This vintage offers complex aromas of ripe red fruits, with hints of jam. It is perfectly balanced, with pleasantly pronounced acidity. The tannins are well-integrated, lending the wine body and a long finish.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1 star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

With a long family history, the Bruneau-Dupuy estate is now run by Sylvain. Since 2012, the vineyard has been in the process of converting to organic farming. The estate covers an area of 20 hectares, sheltered to the north by the forest. Half of the estate is located on south-facing slopes, covered with old vines planted in clay-limestone soils. The wines from these vines are full-bodied and have a long finish. The other half of the vineyard is planted in sandy soils, which produces lighter, fruitier wines best enjoyed young. At under 15 euros, the wines offer good value for money.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated 91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is reserved at first and requires some time to open up. It then reveals concentration and depth: it expresses notes of juicy blackcurrant, blueberry, morello cherry, wild blackberry, and wild plum, complemented by aromas of red fruits (red cherry jam, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis), as well as subtle notes of sweet spices (clove, nutmeg), a toasty undertone, and floral (violet, dried rose) and herbaceous (dried mint) notes. The palate is clean and well-defined: it offers a tart quality of red fruits (red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, red currant), complemented by notes of black fruits (blackcurrant, morello cherry, wild plum), a subtle spicy quality (clove, licorice, nutmeg), and floral notes (dried rose, violet). The tannic structure is well-integrated and well-structured. Beautiful, lively, and refreshing acidity. Good length on the finish, with notes of blackcurrant leaf and dried mint.
