Made from the oldest vines on the Clos’s finest terroir, this powerful red wine already reveals its full concentration to the eye with its deep ruby color. The body is dense and generous, delivering intense, toasty red fruit. The tannins unfold on a supple, velvety palate, with precision and persistence leading to a mineral finish. A truly beautiful Saumur-Champigny!

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

The arrival of the talented Jean-Philippe Louis as technical director has breathed new life into this “sleeping beauty” of the Saumur region, where the soil is clay-limestone and the sunshine is generous. The 2018 vintages herald the estate’s resurgence, with a red cuvée from old vines offering a full-bodied fruitiness. The Clos-des-Oratoriens white, however, needs more time to develop. Stay tuned!
