Jeanne Germain - Saumur-Champigny Bavardages 2024
17/20
Jancis Robinson
"A wine for immediate enjoyment, delightfully crisp!"
From the very first sniff, the Bavardages cuvée is an aromatic explosion! A fresh, airy fruitiness of blackcurrant and blackberry, with floral notes. The texture is fine, slender, with very little tannin, and a refreshing finish! A wine that's perfect for sharing with friends.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Tasting Review
About the estate:
From her father, she inherited a love of the land and soil. In the Saumur region, the name Germain naturally evokes the famous Roches Neuves estate in Varrains. Jeanne, the youngest daughter of the charismatic Thierry Germain, began her story four years ago with Ben and Comtesse, two Ardennes horses, providing animal traction services. It was her father who passed on to her the sensitivity and character that enable her to work the soil with these two big beasts: a total of seven hectares at Les Roches Neuves and eight other estates in the Anjou region. Jeanne then felt she needed a little more winemaking experience to flourish. She has been working on this since 2019. In 2020, she produced her second Foulée, a delicious micro-vintage Cabernet Franc extracted gently.
