17/20
Jancis Robinson
“A wine that’s a delight to drink right away—deliciously crisp!”
From the very first whiff, the Bavardages cuvée is an aromatic explosion! It offers crisp, airy fruit notes of blackcurrant and blackberry, with floral hints. The body is delicate and slender, with very little tannin, and the finish is refreshing! A quintessential everyday wine.

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Tasting Review
About the estate:
From her father, she inherited a love of the land and the soil. In the Saumur region, the name Germain naturally brings to mind the famous Roches Neuves estate in Varrains. Jeanne, the youngest daughter of the charismatic Thierry Germain, began her journey four years ago with Ben and Comtesse, two Ardennais horses, working in agricultural animal-drawn traction. It was her father who passed on to her the sensitivity and character that allow her to work the soil with these two sturdy steeds: a total of seven hectares at Les Roches Neuves and eight other estates in the Anjou region. But Jeanne felt she needed a bit of winemaking to truly flourish. She has been working on it since 2019. In 2020, she released her second Foulée, a delicious micro-cuvée of gently extracted Cabernet Franc.
