Red Saumur
Created in 1936, Saumur Rouge AOC is produced in 32 communes, 21 in Maine-et-Loire, 9 in Vienne, and 2 in Deux-Sèvres. The main grape variety is Cabernet Franc, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and, more rarely, Pineau d'Aunis. The soils are mainly composed of Tuffeau chalk limestone, characteristic of the Saumur region. Saumur Rouge is characterized by its bright ruby purple color, intense aromas of ripe or even stewed red fruits, and superb balance. Both supple and dense, it seduces with its lightness and finesse.
