Domaine Baumard

Domaine Baumard is located in Rochefort-sur-Loire. It is a family-owned estate dating back to 1634, which Florent Baumard, the current owner, took over in 1987.

Committed to the environment and people, Domaine Baumard has practiced sustainable viticulture for over 50 years: alternating between tilling and grass cover, high and wide vines (VHL), respect for natural balances, and preventive care. The VHL training system allows for a “large exposed leaf area” to promote better ripening of the grapes, improves soil structure, and restores superior biological and agronomic potential to the soil, with the ultimate goal of preserving the terroir. Harvesting at Domaine Baumard is done by hand into shallow crates. The Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, and Quarts de Chaume grapes undergo successive sorting. The bunches are then transported in suspended trailers to best preserve the grapes’ physical qualities.

Florent Baumard combines the expression of the terroir with the technical expertise passed down by his father, resulting in an explosion of aromas and a very consistent range of wines.
