This Port, with its brick-red hues, makes a bold statement. The aromas dance and intertwine, blending notes of cinnamon, dried fruit, and blue flowers. The symphony continues on the palate, where woody notes, coffee beans, and mild spices come to the fore. A fine example of its appellation.

Time goes by, and my dislike for it only grows! The palate is heady, with aromas of dried fruit and toasted notes, accented by oxidative hints of nuts, as well as an unattractive and overly prominent oakiness. In short, a Port that, in my humble opinion, is disharmonious and unbalanced, perhaps due to over-ripening caused by a long, poorly managed aging in oak barrels. In any case, this high-priced Quevedo falls far short of my standards for a rich Port—one with a creamy, silky texture and fine, round, supple tannins—that I enjoy sipping as an aperitif or paired with 70% cocoa chocolate.

A very inviting nose of candied fruit and dried fruit. On the palate, in contrast to, say, a Niepoort or a 10-year-old Andresen, there is a significant difference. Here, the alcohol note dominates, with the body following discreetly, over notes of candied fruit and raisins. Whereas in the former, one gets a much more cohesive overall impression, integrating all the elements into a magnificent synthesis. I will reconsider this rating, which surprises even me!

Nose: dominated by nuts, woody. Palate: similar to the nose, seems too sweet. 16/20 Best enjoyed in small sips.
