“Just bottled about a month before the tasting—it was clearly evident—but there was a slightly off-note, perhaps a hint of volatile acidity. Just a hint, though. It’s still very drinkable, with a good finish and remarkable intensity for a relatively young Tawny. ” (Wine Advocate 2018) Give it time to open up so it can reveal its finest aromas.

About the wine:

The 2004 Colheita Tawny Port is a single-vineyard blend, composed primarily of Touriga Franca (35%), Tinta Roriz (20%), Touriga Nacional (15%), Tinta Barroca (10%), and others, bottled in 2018 with a long cork and 100 grams of residual sugar. Delicate and concentrated, this Tawny—in the house style—has a darker color than most Tawnies. Don’t be confused—it’s still a Tawny. Bottled just about a month before the tasting, this was quite evident, but there was a slightly off-key nuance—perhaps a hint of volatile acidity. Just a hint, though. It’s still very drinkable, with a good finish and notable intensity for a relatively young Tawny.
