A fresh, gourmet rosé with a nose of raspberry and pomelo, accented by herbal notes. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and opulent, with citrus and pomelo flavors, a hint of vanilla, and a fresh character, supported by lovely acidity and a briny finish enhanced by subtle warm spices. In short, a rosé perfect for sharing, ideal with appetizers or Asian dishes, and with good aging potential.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Planted in 1980 and purchased in 2010 by Caroline and Philippe Chauvin, this 15-hectare estate—eight of which are in Bandol—is situated on a hillside and laid out in terraces. Facing north and descending a fairly steep slope, the vineyard is rising from the ashes. With the construction of a beautiful winery, perfectly integrated into the landscape, and the opening of a farmhouse inn offering a wide range of products from their own production, the estate takes the concepts of hospitality and terroir very seriously.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on October 24, 2023
Slightly salty aromas of peaches and lilacs emerge from the lychee-colored wine, while the palate—full of crisp freshness and marked by beautiful body—is enveloped by a dense, caressing, and juicy texture with mineral and briny notes, set against an exuberant and explosive backdrop of concentrated red berries, grapefruit, and lemon, accompanied by subtle spices. The liveliness provided by the salty and tangy notes pleasantly enhances the tasting experience and carries through to a mouthwatering and refreshing finish. At its peak drinking window, this lovely Bandol has the potential to age gracefully through 2025. Taking advantage of a break in the clouds, this rich and indulgent wine was shared with friends over a barbecue featuring Madagascar shrimp skewers marinated in honey, turmeric, and salted soy sauce, spiced up with a pinch of Espelette pepper. Rating = 4.
