Clos de l'Ours - Côtes de Provence Milia blanc 2021
89/100
RVF
"A fresh Mediterranean expression, Milia blanc 2021 (rolle, ugni, and clairette) enchants us with its spontaneity, floral notes, and stony, salty finish." (Le Guide RVF 2023) Lively, taut and fresh, it delivers aromas of white flowers, citrus and acacia. Refined yet full-bodied on the palate, it will enhance your raw fish recipes such as yuzu ceviche.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
The 13-hectare vineyard, certified organic since 2000, is located on well-drained clay-limestone soil, bordered by a circle of pine and oak trees. Its geographical location near Cotignac gives this terroir a cooler climate, with greater temperature variations than on the coast. Composed mainly of vines aged between 40 and 70 years old, which is becoming a rarity in this sector largely dominated by rosé production, the vineyard brings together the classic grape varieties of Provence.

About the estate:
Fabienne and Michel Brotons left their life in Marseille and invested all their savings to become winemakers on this charming estate in Cotignac in the Haut-Var region. It was such an exciting project that their children, who had been planning careers in business, joined them in this adventure. Fabien now works in the vineyard and with the wine, while Émilie takes care of sales. Their arrival has been a boon for the Côtes de Provence, as the family is committed to expressing the authenticity of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault, Rolle, Clairette, and Ugni, far from the modern oenological dictates that have made the region's reputation. Their understanding of their vineyard, particularly through the transition to organic and then biodynamic farming, has led the Brotons to produce increasingly authentic wines, which they will continue to refine in the coming years.
