Notes: Bettane & Desseauve 17/20, Gault Millau 16.5/20, Guide Hachette 1* (Very successful wine)
“A dizzying nose of fresh black fruit; on the palate, it offers civilized , deep tannins. The beautifully spicy finish is full of style and has gained in refinement since our last tasting. ” (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2013). A great wine, full-bodied and generous, that rivals the greatest appellations!

Rated estate (2016 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

A magnificent estate and the top tourist attraction in the Var region, featuring a chapel adorned with frescoes and mosaics by Chagall, Bazaine, and Ubac, as well as a bas-relief by Giacometti, Château Sainte-Roseline is a magical place in Provence. The château is actually a former 11th-century abbey, founded by a hermit. Roseline, daughter of the Marquis de Villeneuve, Lord of Les Arcs, served as Mother Prioress of the Abbey from 1300 to 1329. She was beatified in the 19th century, and her body now rests beneath a glass reliquary in the chapel. Today, we should honor Aurélie Bertin, who has successfully revitalized the vineyard, located near Les Arcs-sur-Argens, which spans over 100 hectares. Hospitality is the hallmark of this estate, and guided tours (with tastings) are organized year-round in various languages.

About the estate:

Surrounding the 11th-century Sainte-Roseline Abbey and its chapel, where the saint’s relics are enshrined, this former vineyard of the bishops of Fréjus (where Pope John XXII once stayed) lies alongside olive groves and forests across an area of 90 hectares. In 1994, Bernard Teillaud undertook the renovation of this property, and in 2007, his daughter Aurélie Bertin Teillaud took over the estate. One of the eighteen classified growths of Provence and a pillar of the appellation, it is often noted for its reds.

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Since 1994, Bernard Teillaud, a real estate developer from Grenoble, has invested a large portion of his fortune in creating a unique estate in Sainte-Roseline, near Les Arcs-sur-Argens. The 93-hectare vineyard produces beautifully crafted wines available in several cuvée tiers: Lampe de Méduse, Prieure, and finally La Chapelle, in white, rosé, and red varieties. The estate also offers a wide range of merchant wines. For the past ten years, Aurélie Teillaud has managed Sainte-Roseline with great energy and determination, continuing to develop it and promote it worldwide. The estate’s latest vintages demonstrate that it maintains a high standard and ranks among Provence’s most reliable wines. The Teillaud family also owns Château des Demoiselles in La Motte.
