Alpilles

Famous for their rosé wines, the vineyards of the Provence-Côte d’Azur region nevertheless offer a wide selection of red and white wines that are just as exceptional. The IGP wines of the Alpilles benefit from a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot—sometimes even very hot—summers, with temperatures that can reach 40°C. Rainfall is irregular and often takes the form of violent storms. The Mistral, fierce in the region, has a beneficial effect on the vines. The IGP Alpilles vineyards, which stretch along the coast or wind through the valleys of the hinterland, offer a superb setting, with a landscape that is, to say the least, diverse.

As in all Mediterranean vineyards,the Alpilles IGP features a diverse range of grape varieties. Forthe Alpilles IGP red, these include Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Franc, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Counoise. Forthe Alpilles IGP red and whitewines, winemakers primarily use Ugni Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, and Rolle. Muscat à Petits Grains, Chasan, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon are also found. Among the Alpilles IGP wines, the Domaine de Trévallon stands out in particular.
