This micro-cuvée, sourced from a vineyard plot on high slopes, is aged for 18 months in new oak barrels. It is a powerful and full-bodied red wine from the South, with aromas of dark fruit. It has perfect balance on the palate, and the finish lingers with notes of spices and ripe fruit. This is a wine built for aging; it should be opened a little while in advance to fully appreciate it.

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 91/100 (2019 vintage)
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
The limestone scree soil of this 29-hectare estate is typical of the Palette appellation. The natural amphitheater formed by the surrounding hills shields the vines from the mistral and creates a favorable microclimate. The talkative Stéphane Spitzglous, a native of the region, devotes himself to both the vineyard and the winery, and it’s a real pleasure to discover this estate along the road between Sainte-Victoire and Aix. While he initially sent his production to the cooperative, today he bottles everything on the estate—a source of great pride for him.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated Estate (2021 Guide) Award-Winning Wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
In 1996, Stéphane Spitzglous took over his grandfather Henri Bonnaud’s estate. After extensive construction work to build a single structure housing the cellar, the wine storage area, and the tasting room, he released his first vintage in 2004 and renamed his estate after his grandfather. The vineyard is located in Tholonet, southeast of Aix-en-Provence, facing Montagne Sainte-Victoire, and covers 29 hectares that have been farmed organically since 2013.

A deep, brilliant color. The nose offers notes of stewed black fruit. The wine’s power is evident on the palate, all balanced by elegance.
