Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 10/10/2021
A disappointing vintage despite Jeb Dunnuck's glowing review. Lacking balance, mainly due to an overly high concentration of overripe black fruits and poorly controlled aging in new oak. The result is a wine with a robust, very full-bodied structure that is heavy and heady on the palate. The overly acidic flavors of blackcurrant and plum, as well as the excess of spices, particularly pepper, do not improve its drinkability. Still undergoing wood aging. In my opinion, at nearly €17 a bottle, it's not worth it, either economically or in terms of taste. Rating: 2.5. Admittedly, this is harsh, but there are much more harmonious wines in Cairanne, particularly from Brusset or Richaud, and even from X. Vignon (La Tempérance). Drunk after 1 hour of aeration at 16°C, during a Sunday family meal of couscous royal spiced with a touch of harissa. Fortunately, the beautiful "Dame Rousse" in Lirac red 2018 and the Tavel rosé 2019 from Domaine de La Mordorée came to the rescue of this quickly forgotten Marion B cuvée.
