Domaine Duseigneur - Châteauneuf-du-Pape Catarina 2018
91/100
Robert Parker
"The 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Catarina, certified organic and biodynamic, is made from 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, sourced from the Colombis, Bois de la Ville, and Grand Devès vineyards. Fermented in tanks and aged in older demi-muids, it reveals a vibrant nose of raspberry and cherry, underscored by notes of garrigue and crushed stone. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, it is ripe and silky but not overly rich, and will pair easily with a meal.” (Wine Advocate 2020)

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
The estate, covering some 30 hectares, is divided into two parts, located in the municipalities of Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres and Lirac. On the right bank of the Rhône, the terroir consists of rounded pebbles on soils that are initially clay-limestone and then sandy. Since the estate’s founding, the Duseigneur family has always farmed its land naturally, respecting the nature of the soils as much as possible, and now practices biodynamics. The various cuvées all have a serious structure and are often quite closed in their youth. The estate also produces a second line under the domaine-de-mayran brand. We note that recent vintages have gained in finesse and texture, undoubtedly the result of their recent collaboration with winemaker Philippe Cambie.
