James Suckling
"Lots of elegance around a bouquet of fresh red fruit".
"Classically dominated by Grenache (80%) and aged soberly in old barrels for 12 months, it reveals an open, gourmet nose of ripe red fruit and praline brioche. Spices and leather complete this refined palette in a comfortable, flavorful palate, structured by perfectly blended oak and silky, caressing tannins. A remarkably well-balanced wine to enjoy without too much delay". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About the wine:
A cuvée from the Saumades district, a locality where saffron soils meet red clay with rolled pebbles. Classically dominated by Grenache (80%) and aged soberly in old barrels for 12 months, it reveals an open, gourmand nose of ripe red fruit and praline brioche. Spices and leather complete this refined palette in a comfortable, flavorful palate, structured by perfectly blended oak and silky, caressing tannins. A remarkably well-balanced wine to enjoy without too much delay.
About the domain :
Descended from a line of Provencal winemakers, Michel Audibert acquired Jas des Papes in Courthézon in 2014. Here, he farms organically (certification obtained in 2017) a dozen hectares grouped together in the locality of Les Saumades, from which he produces three Châteauneuf wines, one white and two reds.

About the wine:
This very fleshy, full-bodied Châteauneuf presents concentrated aromas of licorice, baking spices and wild blackberry, underlined by a richness of velvety tannins. The wine's boldness is well balanced by its freshness, making it seductive despite its 15% alcohol content. Long finish with a wonderful savory, raw-meat character. A cuvée of Grenache and Syrah from organically grown grapes. To drink or to keep.
