James Suckling
"A lot of elegance surrounding a bouquet of fresh red fruit"
Traditionally dominated by Grenache (80%) and aged soberly in old barrels for 12 months, it reveals an open, generous nose of ripe red fruits and praline brioche. Spices and leather complement this refined palette on the palate, which is comfortable and flavorful, structured by perfectly integrated oak and silky, caressing tannins. A remarkable balance that can be enjoyed without too much waiting." (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About wine:
A cuvée from the Saumades district, a locality that bridges the gap between safres soils and red clay with rounded pebbles. Classically dominated by Grenache (80%) and aged soberly in old barrels for 12 months, it reveals an open, generous nose of ripe red fruits and praline brioche. Spices and leather complete this refined palette on the palate, which is comfortable and flavorful, structured by perfectly integrated oak and silky, caressing tannins. A remarkable balance that can be enjoyed without too much waiting.
About the estate:
Coming from a long line of Provençal winegrowers, Michel Audibert acquired Jas des Papes in Courthézon in 2014. Here, he farms around ten hectares of land in the Saumades area organically (certification obtained in 2017), producing three Châteauneuf wines: one white and two reds.

About wine:
This very full-bodied and robust Châteauneuf presents concentrated aromas of licorice, baking spices, and wild blackberry, underscored by rich, velvety tannins. The wine's boldness is well balanced by its freshness, making it appealing despite its 15% alcohol content. Long finish with a wonderful savory and raw meat character. A blend of Grenache and Syrah from organically grown grapes. Drink now or cellar.
