Stéphane Montez du Monteillet
Since the 16th century, the Monteillet estate has belonged to the Villard family, whose most famous representative is Louis Hector, Duc de Villard, Marshal of France under Louis XIV (1653-1734). Patiently, gradually, Stéphane Montez's ancestors, winegrowers, bargemen and coopers, driven by their love of the Rhône and the work of the vine, bought up the estate's land parcel by parcel. Today, Stéphane Montez succeeds his father Antoine, who passed on all his know-how to him. Stéphane Montez spent two years working in vineyards around the world, in England, Australia, California and South Africa. This adventure abroad made Stéphane aware of the unique character of terroir, the very privilege that brings balance to wines. So the Montez family plant, vinify, mature and market their wines, over 24 hectares and three appellations.

Viognier and Syrah flourish on these terraced hillsides supported by low drystone walls known as "chaillées".
The terroir of the St Joseph Nord, Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu vineyards lies on the slopes of the right bank of the Rhône.
