Stéphane Montez du Monteillet
Since the 16th century, the Monteillet estate has belonged to the Villard family, whose most famous representative is Louis Hector, Duke of Villard, Marshal of France under Louis XIV (1653-1734). Patiently and gradually, Stéphane Montez's ancestors, winegrowers, sailors, and coopers, driven by their love of the Rhône and working the vines, bought up the estate's land parcel by parcel. Today, Stéphane Montez has taken over from his father Antoine, who passed on all his expertise to him. Stéphane Montez worked for two years in various vineyards around the world, in England, Australia, California, and South Africa. This adventure abroad made Stéphane realize the unique character of the terroir, the very privilege that brings balance to the wines. The Montez family plants, vinifies, ages, and markets their wines on 24 hectares and three appellations.

Viognier and Syrah thrive on these terraced hillsides, supported by dry stone walls called "chaillées."
The terroir of the St Joseph Nord, Côte-Rôtie, and Condrieu vineyards is located on the hillsides of the right bank of the Rhône.
