“The essence of true nectar”
“The grapes were perfectly ripe in 2022, and the old vines (70 years old) on the south-facing Vernon hillside produced a powerful and refined wine, half of which was aged in barrels with regular stirring. The appealing nose features sun-kissed yellow fruit aromas supported by well-integrated oak. Full-bodied and delicately smooth, evoking toasted brioche and dried fruit, the palate then takes on a subtle mineral edge that brings liveliness and complexity to the whole. A true expression of the terroir, best left to age in the cellar.” (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About the wine:
The grapes were perfectly ripe in 2022, and the old vines (70 years old) on the south-facing Vernon hillside produced a powerful and refined wine, half of which was aged in barrels with regular stirring. The appealing nose features sun-kissed yellow fruit aromas supported by well-integrated oak. Full-bodied and delicately smooth, with notes of toasted brioche and dried fruit, the palate then takes on a subtle mineral tension that lends liveliness and complexity to the wine as a whole. A true expression of the terroir, best cellared for the long term.

About the estate:
Tucked away on a small cul-de-sac in the heart of the village of Condrieu, Domaine Niero has just nine hectares of vineyards: four in Condrieu, two in Côte Rôtie, a little over one in Saint-Joseph, and a little less than one in Crozes-Hermitage. There is also about one hectare dedicated to the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, planted with both Syrah and Viognier. Although the estate’s clean and modern approach is undeniable, the wines are full of character and express the distinct terroirs from which they come.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 94/100
Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Since 2004, Rémi has been at the helm of this family-owned estate, which boasts a fine array of terroirs in Condrieu, with 4 hectares divided into six plots. He also produces several Côte-Rôtie cuvées from the Viallière and Bassenon terroirs, as well as a Saint-Joseph cuvée, Bois Prieur, and another in Crozes-Hermitage. The wines are serious and rather classic, though their aging sometimes leaves a slight mark on them during their youth.

About the wine:
Aroma of ripe, mealy, and spicy apple. Rich and velvety on the palate, with notes of nectarine and apple peel. Good texture and a lingering finish. Seductive and remarkably restrained for this vintage.
