"A wine of great depth"

"Yves's 2022 Condrieu Les Chaillets is absolutely brilliant, and I would compare it to the appellation's finest wines. Ripe, intense aromas of ripe pineapple, honeyed flowers, orange blossom, and subtle floral notes define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied to full-bodied richness, a structured and flawless mouthfeel, magnificent concentration and depth, and a truly beautiful finish. If you have the chance, buy it. ” (Jeb Dunnuck 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Yves Cuilleron is the largest winegrower in the entire Northern Rhône, currently cultivating 65 hectares and producing some twenty wines, primarily from Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, and Côte Rôtie; only the Crozes is made from purchased grapes. Native yeasts and aging in oak (9 months for whites, 18 months for reds) define a style that is certainly oaky but one in which each terroir ultimately expresses itself. Starting with the 2015 vintage, each appellation offers a cuvée named after a specific vineyard site. One of the leading estates in the Rhône Valley.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

A leading name in the northern valley, particularly for its Condrieu wines. Based in Chavanay, Yves Cuilleron took over the estate in 1987, which had been founded in 1920 by his paternal grandfather and later managed by his uncle Antoine. He has gradually expanded the estate (now 70 hectares), planted with high-density vines and managed in a highly sustainable manner on the right bank of the Rhône (Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray, and Cornas) and, since 2012, on the left bank (Crozes-Hermitage).

Rated estate (2024 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

In 1987, Yves Cuilleron took over the family estate founded by his grandfather in 1920. Dynamic and enterprising, Yves has continued to expand the estate, which now spans 90 hectares across the major appellations of the northern Rhône Valley, complemented by a wine merchant business. The style of the wines has become more refined in recent years, and the focus on terroir is growing thanks to a very interesting range of single-vineyard wines. It is a trusted producer.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 15,5/20

About the wine:

The nose is ripe but rather reserved. On the palate, it is round and full-bodied, with notes of peach pit. The acidity is low, and the finish is generous, rich, and velvety. For those who love rich, honeyed Condrieu wines!

Vinous

Vinous

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

The 2022 Condrieu Les Chaillets exudes pronounced notes of cedar and vanilla, accompanied by peaches, quinces, and very ripe apricots. With a bit more body than La Petite Côte from the same vintage, the well-crafted 2022 Condrieu Les Chaillets delights the palate with a rich concentration of flavors and refreshing acidity.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

A well-structured, balanced, and lively Condrieu. It offers notes of yellow plum, lemon, wild herbs, and a hint of verbena. Medium-bodied, it develops beautifully. It is textured and precise, with good volume on the mid-palate. A delicious and flavorful finish. Enjoy now or celller.
