"A silky, full-bodied Cornas—simply divine!"

“Made from a blend of terroirs, primarily from the lower-lying lieux-dits and supplemented by a few younger vines from Saint-Pierre, the 2023 Cornas Les Chailles was entirely destemmed and aged for 18 months in 228-liter oak barrels, with no new oak. It is a magnificent, classic Cornas, with aromas of ripe black fruit and a bouquet garni, along with hints of pepper and violet. Sun-warmed rosemary and lavender, herbs, and flowers. This wine displays a certain finesse and fruitiness on the palate, combined with lively acidity. The finish is dry and flavorful; the fruit is rather light, but the wine has good structure. It needs a little time to develop more body.

About the estate:

Lionel Fraisse carries on the legacy of this estate, long embodied by Alain Voge, an iconic figure in the region who passed away in 2020. The 12 hectares, superbly situated on the slopes of the Saint-Péray and Cornas appellations, are tended with great care. Crafted for long-term aging, the wines are worthy representatives of the very best these two appellations have to offer. There has been noticeable progress in the aging process, though this is less pronounced in the most recent vintages.
