About the estate:

Laure Colombo, a young and brilliant winemaker, joined the family business in Cornas but wanted to establish her own estate on the outskirts of Saint-Péray to find her footing; starting this year, she is offering us a Saint-Péray and a Cornas from her estate in Lorient. Joining the family business doesn’t mean taking it over—Jean-Luc is still there—so the wine lineup is developed as a family effort, spanning the vineyards of the Côte Bleue and the Rhône, and of course the sourcing activities, sometimes under the Colombo & Fille label, sometimes under Jean-Luc Colombo. The Cornas wines remain the flagship wines here—it’s worth noting that the modern, efficient winery is built at the foot of the hillside! In 2017, the delicious Vallon-de-l’Aigle will be in short supply; only two barrels were produced!

About the wine:

A refined and elegant expression of Cornas, offering aromas of bitter cherry and fig, enhanced by salty notes and dried garrigue. Woody notes of oak and toasted sandalwood linger discreetly in the background, while a pronounced and lively acidity brings freshness. The fully ripe tannins provide a smooth mouthfeel, but this wine still has a bright future ahead of it in the cellar. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2040.

Taut and decisive, the 2022 Cornas Terres Brulées opens with pronounced notes of cedar, ripe black fruit, and graphite. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a solid concentration of flavors and a fresh, acidic backbone. With great finesse, it can age for another four years in the bottle.

About the wine:

Aromas of red and black fruits, iron, smoky earth, roasted garrigue, and fleshy nuances emerge from the 2022 Cornas Terres Brûlées. Medium-bodied to full-bodied and concentrated, it features firm tannins, the sun-kissed fruit of the vintage, and exceptional length. It warrants 2 to 4 years of cellaring and will age gracefully for the next 10 to 15 years if stored properly. Best enjoyed between 2029 and 2044.
