Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

In 1998, Diane de Puymorin settled on a terroir of rounded pebbles and sandstone at the gateway to the Camargue, on the southern slopes of the Costières-de-Nîmes. The family crest, in gold and red (gueules in Old French), gave its name to the estate, a 50-hectare vineyard that produces wines with a strong personality, playing on power and extraction while retaining fine tannins. The wines are vinified in concrete vats, followed by aging in barrels or vats depending on the grape variety. The white wines are impressive for their refreshing textures and spontaneity. Among the reds, the Les Cimels cuvée is the most accessible, with a fruity character but a beautiful concentration of substance. Trassegum and La Bolida are powerful, extracted wines, with more ambitious aging in wood.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

The name of this estate, created in 1998 by Diane de Puymorin, evokes the colors of the family coat of arms, striped with gold and red (gules). The vineyard covers 60 hectares cultivated organically, and conversion to biodynamics is underway (10 hectares already certified). One unique feature is the use of music therapy in the vineyards. This is one of the best references in Costières-de-Nîmes, which also has the good sense to keep old vintages in stock.
